Our commitment to excellence and unwavering focus on quality ensure that each product we offer is meticulously sourced, refined, and distributed to meet the highest industry standards.
Crude oil is arguably the most important natural resource. It underpins the modern hydrocarbons as the raw material for processing from which the modern civilisation receives sophisticated fuels and petrochemical products.
Globally over 250 grades of crude are produced which differ in density, sulphur content, hydrocarbon composition and other important parameters. They range from light condensates resembling gasoline to very dense, bituminous heavy grades.
This makes trading crude a very sophisticated endeavour, and this is what Coral Energy do day in and day out.
We source crude grades from the Middle East, North Africa, North Sea, Central Asia, Latin America and deliver it to refineries in the Med, Europe and Asia Pacific precisely matching buyers’ requirements to quality, availability and timing.
The heavy part of the barrel is Coral Energy’s core strength – this is where we started. These are the heaviest liquid cuts left after processing (also called ‘residuals’).
The residuals, also referred to as heavy feedstocks are used both to compliment and diversify refineries’ raw material streams serving as density and yield correctors or optimising costs.
Identifying these feedstock supplements to meet refiners’ needs and delivering them or indeed finding a ‘home’ for a specific fuel oil or a VGO stream takes extensive market knowledge, trading skills and logistics capabilities.
Working together with our own bunkering division and other bunker industry participants we make sure we deliver the product of the right quality, at the right price, and right on time.
Another very important application for the lower end of the barrel is serving as components for heavy marine fuels. The modern globally strict limits on sulphur, viscosity, flash, pour point and metal content make sourcing, blending and trading bunker components very challenging. Coral Energy’s team makes sure that the components which are delivered work well together preventing dangerous sediment which may damage sensitive engine parts and delivering maximum engine performance.
As the name suggests, middle distillates are fuels originally generated in the middle of the atmospheric distillation column (the first stage of refining) and then they are further improved by additional purification and improvement processes to meet the stringent modern performance and environmental regulations.
Middle distillates are the lifeblood of modern industry, agriculture, and transport. Diesel fuel powers our trucks, non-electrified rail locomotives, tractors and combine harvesters, and mining machinery.
Marine gasoil, together with heavier fuels, supports global trade, making sure thousands of vessels carry commodities and goods across the globe.
Jet fuel makes modern air travel possible, opening up virtually every corner of the world to people.
Middle distillates are a key component of the industrial might of our society. However, the sophistication of modern engines demands compliance with an extensive range of quality parameters. Coral Energy’s middle distillates desk makes sure that fuel is delivered to our customers across the globe in compliance to the stringent regional and local regulations. We deliver millions of tons of diesel, gasoil and jet to customers globally.
These products represent the top part of the barrel.
Naphtha or straight run gasoline is the light stream generated during atmospheric distillation of crude oil.
Naphtha’s applications are twofold – together with gas, it is the prime raw material for the initial petrochemical processes. It is also the first stage component of modern gasolines. However, in order for naphtha to become gasoline, meeting the modern performance and emission requirements, very complex secondary enhancement processes such as reforming, isomerization and alkylation are required. The components thus produced are blended in strict proportions.
Gasoline itself needs no explanation – it has been the staple motor fuel for more than a hundred years, growing in chemical complexity and performance.
This year we have maintained our position as a key supplier of naphtha and other light ends to refiners and petrochemical producers in Europe, Middle East and Central Asia.
Our regional desks are diligently working to develop the LPG business, the key markets being Turkey and the Mediterranean region.
From its very inception, Coral Energy’s petrochemical division consistently diversified and broadened its portfolio of petrochemical products.
Our range expanded to cover over 45 positions, starting from simpler products such as caustic soda, soda ash, methanol, ethylene, ethylene dichloride on to xylenes, toluene, phenol, styrene monomer, acetic acid, acetates, acetone, solvents, and base oils to basic and advanced thermoplastic resins – polyethylenes, polypropylenes, PVC, PTA and PET, PS, PA, melamine, etc.
Coral Energy’s comprehensive and innovative approach to commodity markets extends beyond liquid hydrocarbons. Our dry bulk desk has actively been growing the company’s business in coal, fertilizers, sulfur, and petcoke.
In terms of volume, coal continues to be the leading commodity in global consumption. It remains indispensable in certain industries, such as metals, cement production, and various processing sectors, where specialized grades of coal are essential for their operations.
And despite the world’s long-term commitment to the clean energy transition, the need for coal in energy generation will still be there until coal based generation is phased out. This need has to be met with maximum efficiency, and we serve this need.
75% of the global consumption of coal is taken up by China, India and other countries of the Asian subcontinent with rapidly developing heavy industry.
Coral Energy has established itself as a systemic dependable supplier in the region. Leveraging our sourcing and logistical expertise, we successfully delivered over 7 million tons of coal to our utility and metallurgy customers in 2022.
Changing the way energy is produced, by switching from fossil fuels to renewable fuels, is one of the most impactful changes needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet climate goals.
Coral Energy trades in feedstocks, physical biofuels and blending obligation certificates to create more sustainable energy solutions for our customers. Thanks to its worldwide active network, our experienced team can help you reduce your carbon footprint on transport, aviation and maritime.
Our activity complies with the strictest sustainability criteria.
