Trade Finance Specialist
The incumbent will be responsible for operating efficiently the section in line with established procedures and trade regulations while overseeing the processing of trade transactions with a view to satisfying internal and external customers.

Role:

Required to vet and analyze Letter of Credit, perform final price calculation, shipping documents and invoicing as well as all other trade finance-related matters.

Responsibilities:

  • To initiate and communicate with Sellers directly on all L/C matters. Trade Finance is responsible to counter Sellers promptly with all requirements and/or necessary amendments which should be compliant with the Sales terms to Buyers and their export LC.
  • To liaise with the financing bank to issue the necessary LC/SBLC in good time.
  • To circulate promptly copy of the import LC/SBLC issued by the financing bank.
  • To check the Doc Instructions (D/I) received from Buyer against the import L/C docs.
  • To instruct Ops to place a financial hold on cargo prior to loading (if cargoes sold on FOB basis or if Sales contract specifies receipt of LC or SBLC prior to loading) and to notify Buyer accordingly.
  • Upon receipt of copies of the shipping docs presented by supplier and other applicable docs at discharge port, TF to check same against Export LC terms. Any inconsistencies to be highlighted to Ops and TF immediately so that team can discuss best course of action to rectify matter or to correct docs.
  • Daily MTM of cargoes which have trigger/rollover option.
  • To highlight possible breach of internal Credit Policy.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Masters qualified in business management, finance or economics preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in banks or trading firms dealing with oil & petroleum commodities.
  • Experience working with commodity trade finance products including LCs, SBLCs, Collections, Bank Guarantees etc.
  • Experienced in interacting with different levels of seniority.
  • Proven computer skills and the willingness to learn new processes & applications.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Well organized and detail oriented who can work under pressure.
  • Able to work in a diverse culture.

Technical & Behavioral skills:

  • Sound Import and Export trade related knowledge and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of Inwards/Outwards Remittances processes
  • Experience in handling applications and submissions including letters of credit, Transferable documentary credit, standby letter of Credit and other specialized documentary credit.
  • Experience in handling bank guarantees locally and outside UAE.
  • Experience in document checking and documentary credit opening.
  • Solid command of both written and verbal English
  • Detail conscious approach with the ability to work effectively and independently.
  • Knowledge of ICC rules (UCP600, URC522, ISBP, URDG758, ISP98, Incoterms)
  • Exposure to Regulatory reporting pertaining to Trade Finance.
  • Proven experience in handling /coaching teams.
  • Prior experience to successfully driving initiatives/projects.
  • Knowledge in Finacle Banking system will be an advantage.
  • Ability to prepare management reports and presentation to internal and external customers.
