This position is for an experienced professional to effectively manage a Demurrage Negotiator claims portfolio, ensuring the timely handling of claims, maintaining adherence to contractual obligations and maximizing value recovery.
Role:
You will play a vital part in the accurate calculation, verification and preparation of claims related to freight, contract shipping expenses and demurrage in alignment with oil trading contracts, charterparty terms and general conditions.

Responsibilities:
Oversee a portfolio of claims to prevent missed time bars, provide well-founded responses to counterparts, engage in rigorous negotiation, and facilitate timely claim closures.
Collaborate with various stakeholders, including Traders, Operators, Charterers, Legal, and Tax Advisors, to gather and evaluate information necessary for thorough assessment of demurrage claims.
Utilize diverse communication channels, including email, fax, phone, and in-person negotiation, to resolve disputes with Group companies and third parties, maximizing claim value within ongoing relationships.
Manage intricate negotiations with external counterparts.
Collaborate with Settlement Analysts and Commodity Risk teams.
Provide regular analytical assessments of outstanding claims and costs to trading benches and commodity risk.
Requirements:
Relevant university (economy or finance) degree.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance, trading firms dealing with oil & petroleum commodities.
Experienced in interacting with different levels of seniority.
Proven computer skills and the willingness to learn new processes & applications.
High degree of initiative and ability to work independently.
Well organized and detail oriented who can work under pressure.
Able to work in a diverse culture.
Technical & Behavioral skills:
Solid command of both written and verbal English.
Detail conscious approach with the ability to work effectively and independently.
Proven experience in handling /coaching teams.
Prior experience to successfully driving initiatives/projects.
Ability to prepare management reports and presentation to internal and external customers.
